This mala has been specifically designed to be used as a tool in meditation and chanting. JAPA is the term in India for the spiritual discipline for using a mala (108 bead necklace) to chant mantras or names of the divine.

Made from the holy Rudraksha seed, worn by the believers of the Indian God Shiva, this mala has a quartz crystal spacer bead every 27 beads to aid in the counting of the mantras. Quartz is a beautiful energizing stone that emits and accepts vibrations easily- use quartz to set your intentions in life as well as to enhance your states of mediation.

This range also is hand knotted in the traditional Indian way to allow the rudraksha seeds to slip through your fingers easily.

At the end of the mala you can find a quartz guru (ending) bead and our signature Ahimsa (cruelty free) silk tassel. The silk we use for this range is hand spun on the charka (spinning wheel) hence the look and feel is more organic. Plus the silk is dyed using vegetable dyes.

A mala was traditionally seen as a sacred object and not shown to anyone.

Today we like to wear and absorb the healing vibrations of the crystals, but remember that this is still a sacred object. Treat your mala like you would treat a photo of your teacher, with care and respect.

Our malas as strung on high-grade wire or knotted on fine cotton thread. Please do not put your mala into water, as this will degrade the wire or the cotton string.

You can wash your tassel (only your tassel!) in a little warm water with some baby (or other soft) shampoo. Gently tease out any tangles with a comb after drying.

Certain crystals will loose colour if placed in direct sunlight. Protect your mala in the cloth pouch provided.

Crystals absorb vibrations and it is a good idea to cleanse your crystals once a month either with smoke from incense or by placing your mala under the rays of the full moon outside or on the windowsill.
